Working From Home Without Losing Your Mind…

And we all breathe a sigh of relief….

December27

This was my first year freelancing over the holidays.

I survived ;)

I was even able to take some time off, and relax and enjoy my family…a novel idea, indeed. For the last five years, I’ve worked outside the home at a local psychiatric hospital. Psychiatric facilities never close – in fact, the census goes up around Christmas and New Years.

This was my first holiday season in five years with no pager, no oncall schedule, and no one to answer to but myself…a welcome change, indeed. There’s really nothing quite like being interrupted in the middle of Christmas dinner to answer a page – I certainly can’t say I missed it!

Now that the holidays are (almost) over, I can settle back into a normal routine, and concentrate on growing my business for 2008. Over the next few weeks I’ll be developing a business plan, setting some goals, and getting my financial bookkeeping started off on the right track for January.

What about you? What are your freelance goals for the New Year?

A Human’s Guide to Freelancing

If you’ve got some free time, head on over to Ignite Living and snag this great free report. You won’t regret it – it’s the punchiest little ebook I’ve read in quite awhile.

With the recent debates over writing, rates, and the like on the Warrior Forum, elance, and other writing websites, I though this post and video from Copywriter Underground were rather appropriate. Enjoy, and feel free to leave a comment!
